The Dolphins have done well in free agency to address some of the holes. While the Dolphins will target the best offensive lineman available to them, they do not "have" to draft one in the first round... as long as they get one with one their second round pick. If Zach Martin is not available at pick #19, there is a strong possibly they could go with ILB CJ Mosely, TE Eric Ebron.WR Odell Bekham, or even WR Kelvin Benjamin. One of those should be available for the Dolphins. There is a lot of pre-draft rumble that the Dolphins want to grab a WR in the first round, and then go OL in the 2nd round. The Dolphins could even trade down later in the first round to take OT Morgan Moses. I think there is an excellent chance the Dolphins select ILB CJ Mosely with this pick as they did not address this position in free agency. Jeff Ireland's changes last year actually caused the Dolphins defense to slide. New GM Hickey offered MLB D'Qwell Jackson the starting MLB position with the thought of moving Ellerbe to OLB, but Jackson chose the Indianapolis Colts instead. A lot of times a GM will address one side of the ball in free agency and invest a high round draft pick on the other side. Mosely makes a lot of sense here as well as Zach Martin. The continued talk around Miami is their interest in OL personnel and possibly having to trade up to get Taylor Lewan or Zack Martin. Miami now only have 6 picks, so I just don't see this happening. Not much buzz has been mentioned about Mosely to Miami, but he certainly would fill a position that the Dolphins have interest in addressing and Mosely is a candidate for BPA at #19. Also, the Dolphins DL played solid up front last year, but the linebackers for the Dolphins were HORRID against the run. Martin will initially play right tackle for Miami but down the line could kick back into guard. This pick would almost solidify the line that was such a weakness last year. *-This pick could just as easily be Morgan Moses if in fact Martin is already taken. The biggest concern I have with this pick is whether the Dolphins think that Moses can play at right tackle, because he really came into his own during the 2013 season when he played left tackle after playing right earlier in his career. If Miami takes him here, it will obviously want Moses to start opposite newly acquired left tackle Branden Albert, so the Dolphins need to be comfortable with Moses making the transition. ast offseason the Dolphins had an obvious, glaring hole at offensive tackle after losing Jake Long as a free agent. Miami could have traded for Branden Albert or drafted Lane Johnson but they instead chose to move Jonathan Martin to the blindside, where he struggled mightily as a rookie, and sign Tyson Clabo, who was well into his thirties and had just been released by the Falcons. Miami also selected tackle / guard ‘tweener Dallas Thomas in the third round. That plan blew up in their faces with Martin continuing to look overmatched before leaving the team amidst an embarrassing bullying scandal, Clabo resembling something akin to a revolving door and Thomas unable to crack the starting lineup inside or outside. Not only did the Phins completely fail to fix a significant problem despite ample resources and options but they actually made matters worse. Notre Dame OT Zack Martin isn’t an incredible physical specimen or particularly dominant but he’s a smart, technically sound, battle-tested, four-year starter Zack Martin | Notre Dame Fighting Irish with the ability to play left or right tackle or even guard at the next level. At one point Martin was considered to be more of a fringe first rounder but after a standout performance at the Senior Bowl it's extremely unlikely he escapes the Top 15-20. If Martin isn’t available the Phins could turn their attention to Alabama OT Cyrus Kouandjio, Virginia OT Morgan Moses or UCLA OG Xavier Su’a-Filo. The offensive line is such an overwhelming need that it’s hardly even worth mentioning other alternatives but Alabama ILB CJ Mosley may get a look. |

Miami made a big move in free agency by signing free agent left tackle Brandon Albert, but their overhaul of the offensive line shouldn't stop there. Miami's success is tied to young QB Ryan Tannehill, who has never been able to feel comfortable behind the sieve of an offensive line the Dolphins have put in front of him. Taylor Lewan would be an immediate upgrade at right tackle for the club as one of the draft's elite pass protectors and an excellent value at 19. Before a recent charge for his role in a fight last year there was talk that Lewan could end up in the top ten on draft day and that some viewed him as the class' second best offensive tackle. I am still holding firm on this pick and believe that he will be the pick on May 8. There is so much talk about the Dolphins selecting a right tackle in the first round. The problem is though that this draft is extremely deep and a solid right tackle can be found in a later round. At the end of the day, the right tackle isn't going to win the team any games in crunch time. In addition, a right tackle can be helped by a running back (Knowshown Moreno) and/or a good blocking tight end in pass protection. With a linebacker, you will get someone who can shut down the run in crunch time, make a huge sack in crunch time, and/or break up a pass in crunch time. |

Fluker, who the Chargers eventually took 11th overall in 2013. One thing that is certain is the Fish need help on the O-line.
